The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team is taking green innovation off the track by adopting fully electric trucks for its European race logistics. This marks a first for the sport in the region.

After trialing HVO100 biofuel, the team pulled off an all-electric haul—from its Brackley base to the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort—using the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600. The 600 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery delivers around 500 kilometers of range, and with a megawatt charging system it recharges from 20 % to 80 % in just 25 minutes.

This isn’t just performance—it’s environmental impact. Compared with diesel alternatives, the eActros 600 could cut up to 80 % of its CO₂e emissions over the vehicle’s lifetime. That level of efficiency, paired with speed and reliability, makes it a perfect fit for the high-stakes world of F1 logistics.

This move builds on Mercedes F1’s long-running decarbonization journey. In 2022, they began piloting biofuel, achieving 98 % coverage across their European race and marketing fleet by 2024 and cutting over 500 tonnes of CO₂e. Logistics remain a big part of their carbon footprint, and with each innovation—from biofuels to electric trucks—they’re driving real change.
