World Science Day for Peace and Development, 10 November

Every year on 10 November, we celebrate World Science Day for Peace and Development. This day highlights how science matters not just in labs or universities but in our daily lives, our communities, and for the future we want to build.

Science helps us understand the world, solve problems, and bring people together. On this day, we remember that science can promote peace, support development, and benefit everyone — as long as it is shared, understandable, and inclusive.

You don’t need special equipment to mark the day. You could read about a local scientific project, ask questions about how innovations help health or climate, explore a science center, or simply talk with others about why science matters. Small steps make a difference.

Join the conversation on this day, because science isn’t something distant — it’s part of all our lives, and its key to a peaceful and sustainable future.

The annual observance of the International Week of Science and Peace is making an important contribution to the promotion of peace. The Week encourages greater academic exchanges on a subject of universal importance while also generating greater awareness of the relationship of science and peace among the general public.
