A global initiative from LEGO is helping children face MRI scans with a little less fear and a lot more play. The company has developed a custom “MRI Scanner” set that mirrors the real machine. It's complete with minifigures, scanner bed, waiting room and accessories, all to help pediatric patients understand what’s coming before they go into the actual MRI.

Since its launch, over 10,000 sets have been donated and more than a million children around the world have used them. Health-care professionals report that 96% say the model reduces anxiety, and 46% say it has lowered the need for sedatives during scans.

By turning a stressful procedure into an interactive learning experience, LEGO is showing how play-based design can create real emotional and clinical impact, especially for families having to navigate lengthy hospital stays.
