To my surprise, I recently heard that leaders are spending less time reading books and instead use AI to read book summaries. This is a concerning development, as I truly believe that taking time to read a high quality book and immerse yourself in somebody else’s perspective is a profound learning experience that makes you think and importantly opens your mind.
I am delighted that AI is freeing up time for all of us leaders by automating many of the lower added-value tasks that keep our agendas busy. Having said that, I urge leaders to use the time they save with AI to open themselves up to the outside world by selecting and reading interesting books that broaden their horizons, stimulate step-change thinking, and ultimately accelerate the growth of their business.
This is the power of reading.
Good leaders use reading to learn faster.
