Reducing food waste: Heinz petition calls for companies to sell hot dogs and buns in equal numbers

It is the little things that move us in the right direction and cut down on waste. Heinz has started a petition "calling on big bun and big wiener companies to finally sell buns and wieners in even packs."

The article states:

"Canadian households waste more than 2 million tonnes of edible food every year, costing Canadians more than $17 billion in food waste".

According to the National Zero Waste Council “more than a third of food produced and distributed in Canada never gets eaten, with significant environmental, economic and social consequences.”

Help right-size this by casting your vote!

Frankly speaking, hot dog buns have traditionally been sold in packs of eight while hot dogs have been sold in packs of ten. As for what happens to the remaining two dogs: do you buy more buns to equate to the number of dogs or simply have two bunless dogs?
