Driving and electric car, going vegan or using solar power are all big things that make a huge impact on our carbon footprint. While we all aspire to make big changes it's important to remember that the cumulative effect of our many small choices is also important.

Kudos to Nestlé and more specifically to their Smarties brand (of which I am a huge fan) for taking a stand and changing all of their packaging to paper from responsible sources. I noticed this when I picked up a bag of Smarties from the impulse rack at my local grocer - the bag felt different than the other chocolate I had in my cart. I put the other package back and grabbed 2 bags of Smarties.

A bit of good reading in the checkout line made me come to realize that Smarties packages are all paper, they are affiliated with the Rainforest Alliance, use sustainably sourced cocoa and source their paper using guidance from the sustainable Forestry Initiative.
