Before I jump into our vegan car buying experience, I have to explain how we got to being a meat-free family... roughly 7-8 years ago I was going on a bunch of business trips back to back and my husband was bored at home so he kept himself busy watching Netflix documentaries. (What the Health? Game Changers, Blackfish, etc.) For every trip I went on I came home to another thing we "needed" to cut from our lifestyle. Quickly it became we can't eat meat, we will not be visiting SeaWorld, we will use recycled everything... I thought this would be a phase but it stuck and I am happy it did (I was not at the time, I missed steak to be honest) but the more research I did myself the more I realized this was the lifestyle I wanted to live alongside my husband and later when we had our son we carried it on to him.

There are times I forget how ingrained animal products are in our day to day purchases even when we do not realize it or forget! Buying a car was one of these instances. We found a vehicle that the interior was Softex interior...but the steering wheel is leather wrapped! At this point we were onto our 4th dealership, I was ready to say "well we tried" but it felt wrong. So we are still searching for a fully vegan car that we can take home.

It is refreshing to see more car manufacturers moving toward vegan options but we are still not there. I am hoping by the time we purchase our next car in five years, it will be easier but for now, we are still on the "hunt" for a car! Wish us luck :)
