Plastic pollution impacts some of the worlds most remote locations, apart from the impact on wildlife and often distressing images microplastics also feature in the food chain with a range of suspected impacts on human health.

But remarkably, global production is accelerating. On current trends, plastic use will nearly double from 2019 across G20 countries by 2050, reaching 451m tonnes each year.
