I just learnt recently that my cousin's daugther has been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (Asperger's). Even if I already heard about Asperger's, it is one thing to have heard about it and to really try to understand what is really behind the autism spectrum disorder.
Actually takling about Asperger's restricts what people think an autistic person is. Each person is different.
My cousin shared with us a very interesting TV reportage that allowed me to really understand how someone with an autism spectrum disorder will react and will certainly help me now to be more inclusive in my behaviour if I come into contact with a person with this autism spectrum disorder.
Every April Autism Speaks celebrates World Autism Month, beginning with the United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day on April 2. This year marks the 16th annual World Autism Awareness Day. Throughout the month, we focus on sharing stories and providing opportunities to increase understanding and acceptance of people with autism, fostering worldwide support. This year, we are committed to standing together to make a world of difference for people on the spectrum.
