Tara Dower Just Smashed the Speed Record on the Appalachian Trail

Quite an amazing feat (no pun intended) of endurance and determination. Certainly, an inspiring role model, not to only young girls (she raised over $20,000 for Girls on the Run), but for all of us and a true testament to setting a goal and getting after it.

Tara Dower, a 31-year-old ultrarunner and long-distance hiker born in North Carolina and based in Virginia, reached Georgia’s Springer Mountain, the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, at 11:53 P.M.
