I recently purchased an Oculus to see what the big hype was about. I swore I would use it to get a bit of physical activity in as the ads promised but really I use it to do some virtual bowling and browse the web in 3D looking for news and articles for BBEB. I can use it for approximately 30-60 minutes before my eyes need a break so if the metaverse is going to be the next big thing... Mr. Zuckerberg is going to have to figure out a way to make the goggles comfortable for long term use.
I will certainly keep an eye on this innovation as a marketer however because I do think we will see improvements and this will be a new way to connect with consumers considering their sales trends.
For marketers, the metaverse represents an opportunity to engage consumers in entirely new ways while pushing internal capabilities and brand innovation in new directions.
