I have been traveling on business for over 25 years now and as many of my colleagues know I have a routine I follow when we go out for dinner or meals.  I always look at the amount of food that is wasted in a group dinner setting- if food has not been touched or extra meals are available I will ask for these to be packaged up.  On my way back to the hotel I look for those less fortunate and offer it to them.  It may not seem much for us as we are very fortunate but for someone that may go to bed hungry, it means everything.
