Peppa Pig gives US children British accents

Oh Peppa Pig... I have such mixed feelings about you. Primarily because my son often refers to me as Mummy Pig which is not my most favorite nickname but I will say I would much rather our three year old watch this show then some of the child YouTube sensations where these kids do "toy reviews" for hours on end. In truth, Peppa Pig has been a source of great of entertainment and education during the pandemic and she and her little pig family have opened conversations that helped us with our move to the UK. Every double decker bus is carrying the Queen and Peppa Pig in my sons eyes and he now says "excuse me", "brilliant" and "crikey". This may not sound significant to most but as he was born three months early, his speech has been delayed and within the last six months he is speaking up a storm with a hint of a British accent.... all in time for him to start nursery in London next month. Thanks Peppa.

Love,

Sam's Mum (Mom)

The “Peppa effect” has taken hold during lockdown, according to parents in North America, who claim their children are talking about strange objects with funny accents.
