The conversation around healthy buildings is gaining momentum, as underscored by a recent Forbes article. No longer just about structural integrity, "healthy buildings" now encompass features like air quality, natural lighting, and thermal comfort. Amid a global pandemic, these factors have taken on new significance, not only for wellbeing but also for productivity. Investments in smarter HVAC systems, green spaces, and touchless technology can improve occupant health while reducing environmental impact. As we move into an era of heightened awareness about public health and sustainability, the case for healthy buildings becomes increasingly compelling.
A new survey conducted by Opiniumn for Khansaheb Industries’ Spiralite sustainable HVAC ductwork division found more than half of British workers (52%) have heard of Sick Building Syndrome. The survey also found respondents believe the causes of sick building syndrome to be poor ventilation or poorly maintained air conditioning systems (60%), release of toxic chemicals from poorly maintained air condition systems (46%), and poorly maintained sewage systems (33%).
