Sustainable fashion: Bangladesh's RMG sector leads with 24 new LEED green factories in 2023

With this most recent certification, Bangladesh now has 206 LEED-certified green factories in total. According to a breakdown of these certifications by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), 116 have been awarded a gold rating, and 76 have received the highest rating of platinum. This development is especially noteworthy given the growing emphasis on sustainable practices in the global apparel industry.

It shows, Bangladeshi garment industry is actively working to obtain LEED certifications, which establishes standards for environmental responsibility and places the nation at the forefront of the global movement toward more environmentally friendly production methods.

This recent certification brings Bangladesh's total to 206 LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified green factories, a testament to the country's dedication to green initiatives within the garments sector
