The University of Surrey is developing innovative kite-flying robots to monitor greenhouse gas emissions, funded by a £620,000 government grant. These robots, equipped with new lightweight wireless gas sensors, will fly on helium kites to monitor emissions and their directions. The project aims to provide a more accurate, affordable way to track emissions, particularly from sources like wastewater treatment systems. This could significantly contribute to the UK's net zero goals by offering real-world data for better environmental management.
