The world is full of hidden fees. We think we are going to pay one price, and then BAM! The bill comes and there is a whole lot more added to the bottom line in the form of “junk fees” that we didn't know about, or accept!

Now at least one industry is being forced into showing the full price and being accountable up front - Internet broadband providers.

The United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is requiring providers to provide notices that resemble “nutrition labels” that break down what consumers are getting and how much all the individual parts of their internet service cost. Broadband consumers will be able to see information including monthly price, discounts and bundles, internet speed range for plans, the amount of data included each month, network management and privacy policies, customer support contacts, as well as any additional charges and terms, including early termination and late fees.

These new labels are expected to make it easier for consumers to have a way to quickly compare plans, based on price and internet speeds, and the largest ISPs (with 100,000 or more customers) will have to display these labels to consumers before they purchase a service plan either online or in a store.
