Intertek Automotive Research (IAR) in San Antonio, Texas recently completed an LED retrofit pilot project at one of their support locations. The project will eliminate 21 metric tons of carbon each year and has improved task lighting and workplace safety (see photo).

Based on the pilot’s success, IAR is moving forward to convert over 1,900 conventional fixtures across the main, 14 acre campus to LED. Once complete, the project will eliminate 720 metric tons of carbon emissions annually, save $126K per year in operating costs and pay for itself in 1.5 years. All this while improving workspaces, enhancing safety, reducing maintenance costs and offering a potent selling point in a market increasingly sensitive to supplier sustainability.

The project will be managed by Tim Halleran, Regional HSE Manager.
