Climate change affecting children even before birth

A study of studies brings together previous research in a comprehensive view of the effects of climate change on children. Among the study’s conclusions is that children in poor-to-moderate-income countries are likely to be most affected by climate change. Understanding the new risks climate change poses to children will be critical in helping mitigate the effects.

Children’s nutritional and hydration intake could be compromised, and this could affect growth of the body and brain development. Children drink more in relation to their body weight, so contaminated water is a greater risk for young children.
