The Link Between Highly Processed Foods and Brain Health

We all know it is important to limit highly processed foods in the diet and focus on consuming whole, nutrient-dense foods to support optimal health but I am finding as I get older I have to focus on my brain health as much as body health. Some days I am not as sharp as I would like to be and can attribute that to days I have too many coffees with sweetener, or one too many chocolates... for now I am blaming my fogginess on that and not an aging brain ;)

“Ultra processed foods are carefully formulated to be so palatable and satisfying that they’re almost addictive,” said Dr. Eric M. Hecht, an epidemiologist at the Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University. “The problem is that in order to make the products taste better and better, manufacturers make them less and less like real food.”
