Even though I usually cannot wait for my daily workout (hellooooo stress-relief), keeping my motivation levels high enough to get through it Monday to Saturday can be a challenge. Last week, I even resorted to searching for motivational fitness quotes to give me a boost, but, as this article points out, I couldn't help but feel (more than) a tad "cringe".
But you know what? I'm loving the concept suggested here: Play coach and athlete -- and swap out the "I" for "you" when engaging in self-talk. I'm totally going to give this a shot tonight!
Split yourself into a coach and an athlete
If you, too, find yourself recoiling at “I am...” or “I can...” statements, there is a better way: Talk to yourself as if you were a different person.
