The minister of Electricity and Water Affairs of Bahrain, Yaser Bin Ebrahim Humaidan aims to double renewable energy to achieve 20% of the total energy mix in 2035.

Yaser Bin Ebrahim Humaidan, at World Utility Congress, said that the country aims to reach net zero emissions by 2060 and 30% reductions in greenhouse gas emissions by 2035 and double renewable energy goals to achieve 20% of the energy mix by 2035.

Bahrain is one of the GCC nations that want to increase renewable energy production in order to reduce emissions and achieve net zero within the next decade.

Saudi Arabia is the largest economy in the Arab World. It aims to reach net zero by 2060. A number of renewable energy projects are being developed.

He stated that Bahrain has made progress in a number of areas in its efforts to reach the net-zero goal by 2060.

He said, “We’ve worked with several large industrial emitters, and have implemented a continuous emissions monitoring system that allows us to monitor their emissions continuously and in real-time. This also allows us to detect violations immediately and take corrective actions.”
