“Dead as a DoDo bird” is a saying that dates back a long time. Maybe not as far back as 1681 when the flightless bird went extinct, but it's safe to say it's been in the lexicon for more than a few decades now!
But that might not be the case anymore as scientists are developing plans to potentially “de-extinct” the species and reintroduce it into the natural habitat it once roamed.
Would you want to see a real, live Dodo bird, or is that something that should remain in the history books and museums?
An audacious collaboration between geneticists and conservationists plans to bring back the extinct dodo and reintroduce it to its once-native habitat in Mauritius.
