Not so dead as a dodo: ‘De-extinction’ plan to reintroduce bird to Mauritius

“Dead as a DoDo bird” is a saying that dates back a long time. Maybe not as far back as 1681 when the flightless bird went extinct, but it's safe to say it's been in the lexicon for more than a few decades now!

But that might not be the case anymore as scientists are developing plans to potentially “de-extinct” the species and reintroduce it into the natural habitat it once roamed.
