Swap the corporate jargon for these accessible alternatives

We have all been there, in a meeting when a term is used, and we have absolutely no idea what it means. Sometimes we have just nodded along and then asked a colleague or google later to help us. But the impact of Jargon is much more detrimental than we may realise.

This article from Scope highlights how some of the terms used daily can be confusing and worse than that, exclude people. The good news is that it is easy for us to switch the terms out to make them more understandable.

I know from working in IT, we love our buzz words and acronyms, it makes us clever and helps guard the secrets of IT from those less knowledgeable. It is time for us all to play our part in speaking plain English and making our communications more accessible to all.

It’s important to remember that though certain words are familiar to you, they may not be to your audience.
