In 2020, NASA started to share sonifications of images captured by the Chandra X-Ray observatory. Many of the telescopes capture reading os ‘invisible’ light that is then processed to make it visible to the human eye. NASA have taken this a step further to convert the image into sound, known as sonification. The next video is of the Sonification of the Ghostly Cosmic Hand.

NASA have a new documentary out explaining the process - the documentary is available on NASA Plus and is call Listen to the Universe.

NASA hve noted that making sonifications available has helped not only useful to the blind and low vision community, but the broader community is finding them helpful in exploring and understanding the universe.
