In the weeks leading up to the holidays, colleagues from across our Madrid office came together with one shared goal: to make the season a little brighter for families in need.

Through Operación Kilo, a food collection initiative organised in collaboration with the Banco de Alimentos de Madrid (Madrid Food Bank), our teams donated more than 70 kilos of essential food items to support vulnerable households across the region.

The Banco de Alimentos de Madrid plays a vital role in improving food security throughout the community. In 2024 alone, the organisation collected and distributed nearly 17 million kilos of food, helping provide daily meals to more than 115,000 people.

Donation boxes were placed throughout the Madrid office, making it easy for colleagues across all business lines to participate. The response was inspiring. A total of 70.4 kilos of pasta, baby food, baby formula, biscuits and other essentials were collected and delivered in time to support families during the holiday season.

The initiative was organised by Katya Valderrama, Office Coordinator, and has become a meaningful tradition for the Madrid team. In previous years, colleagues have also volunteered at the food bank’s distribution centre, helping sort and prepare donations for delivery.

As Neal Bernuy, Director Business Development – ECA Hardlines, shared:

“This initiative truly reflects our purpose and values—supporting social causes and making a positive impact in the communities where we operate. Thank you to everyone who contributed, and especially to Katya for leading the effort with such dedication.”

At Intertek, building better, safer, and more sustainable supply chains extends beyond our services—it also means showing up for the communities where we live and work. Sometimes, that impact starts with a simple act of kindness.
