Belitsa Park - A safe haven for former dancing bears in Bulgaria.

Park Belitsa is located in Rila Mountains, around180 km from Sofia, 12 km from the town of Belitsa and 35 km from ski resort in Bansko. The asylum is maintained in cooperation with the French Foundation of Bridget Bardot and is funded by both organizations. It consists of an area of 120,000 m2, divided into seven enclosed spaces, in which most bears live in pairs or groups. In 2000, 31 former dancing bears from Bulgaria, Serbia and Albania were rescued and moved to the BELITSA PARK for a better life.
