Bangladesh hospital named world's best new building

It is truly a proud moment for the Bangladeshis and inspiring for all with such a graceful, practical and integrated design. The same is recognized by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). This is a recognition of a milestone achievement of architecture in Bangladesh.

These buildings look like a resort instead of a hospital and this project offers important lessons for all of us on how to do more with less.

Chowdhury described the jury's decision to honor a project from the "global periphery" as a "sublimely important moment." "I am encouraged that this may inspire more of us to commit, not in spite of, but because of limitations of resources and means, to an architecture of care both for humanity and for nature, to rise collectively to the urgencies that we face today on a planetary scale," he said in a press statement.
