World's First Disabled Astronaut Announced

The European Space Agency have selected a disabled man to join the astronaut programme as part of a feasibility study.

With 15% of the world's population having a disability, it is critical for society to see representation and increase awareness that disabled people have the same aspirations and needs as anyone else.

"It's really important for us to involve everybody that has an excitement about space," said Dr David Parker, Esa's director of human and robotic space exploration.
