The RNIB are doing a fantastic job of raising awareness about sight loss. In the recent post RNIB Continue Campaign to Dispel Sight Loss Stereotypes, I shared the latest part of the #SeeThePersonNotTheSightLoss Campaign with e launch of the #BeforeYouAsk campaign with a superb video dispelling stereotype.
RNIB have extended the campaign with an interactive video chat where you ask questions and get responses. The interactive video chat helps you to feel confident about connecting with blind and partially sighted people in your community, place of work or when you are out and about. Try out the RNIB #BeforeYouAsk Interactive Video Chat
You can also test your knowledge of sight loss with a #BeforeYouAsk quiz. I took the quiz and got some questions wrong, but I learnt from it I recommend you to try the #BeforeYouAsk quiz out too.
In addition, there are a series of videos called Conversations between that cover many topics and what it is like to live with sight loss. Check out the videos on the Conversations between video series page.
The blind and partially sighted community are frequently being asked annoying questions which are loaded with misconceptions surrounding sight loss. Sometimes questions can be inappropriate, hurtful or just plain daft. So, we took this insight and asked blind and partially sighted people to answer those questions once and for all. We asked blind and partially sighted people to send us their frequently asked questions and how they typically answer them. This insight has informed our new campaign, #BeforeYouAsk.
