After a successful trial on Saturday's in the return to school season, Walmart are rolling out sensory-friendly shopping hours nationwide in the US. During the sensory-friendly hours, overhead lamps are dimmed, radios are turned off and moving images on screens are set to static images.
Both shoppers and employees responded positively to the trial with the main feedback being “keep it going”. I personally feel we can all benefit from less stimulation, especially when shopping.
“These changes may have seemed small to some, but for others they transformed the shopping experience,” Deaderick, Clark and Washington indicated. “Our biggest piece of feedback? Keep it going!”
