Indonesian Energy Ministry Emphasizes Planned Mining for Sustainability

The Indonesian Energy Ministry is underlining the importance of planned mining for sustainability. In a world where natural resources are finite, responsible mining practices are crucial. The ministry's emphasis on strategic planning ensures that mining activities in Indonesia are carried out with a focus on environmental preservation and long-term viability. Sustainable mining not only safeguards precious ecosystems but also benefits local communities and the national economy. As with existing environmental legislation which has had its challenges its important to back up legislation with surveillance, monitoring and enforcement.

It's a step towards harmonizing resource extraction with environmental conservation, setting a positive example for responsible resource management. Indonesia is making strides in balancing its energy needs with ecological concerns.

"So, the key to a mine is a plan. Once there is no plan, we can say that the mine does not comply with good mining principles," intermediate mining inspector/Minerba civil servant investigation coordinator (PPNS) Sulistiyohadi said.
