El Niño has officially begun. Here's what that means for the U.S.

Understanding and monitoring El Niño events is crucial for governments, policymakers, and scientists to mitigate and adapt to its impacts. Organizations like the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) closely monitor El Niño through observations and forecasts, providing valuable information to help communities and industries prepare for potential consequences. 

This is the alarm to remind us, the time is now to fix this. 

"[El Niño] could lead to new records for temperatures," says Michelle L'Heureux, a climate scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center.
