COP28: UN calls for action towards sustainable extraction of critical raw materials

The UN's call for action at COP28 underscores the urgency of sustainable resource management. As global demand for critical raw materials rises, responsible extraction and usage are paramount. Sustainable practices not only safeguard ecosystems but also ensure long-term economic stability. By promoting circular economies and responsible sourcing, we can mitigate environmental impacts and enhance resource security. Let's unite to prioritize sustainability in the extraction of vital materials. It's a crucial step toward a more resilient and eco-conscious future.

The demand for Lithium will surge by approximately 90 percent in 20 years. Nickel and cobalt are expected to rise by 60-70 percent. Copper and other rare earth minerals are set to increase by 40 percent in demand. Furthermore, the demand for these materials is expected to triple by 2030, according to the IEA net-zero emissions.
