"Texas-sized" clean energy ambition

Yes, Texas is the largest oil and natural gas producing state in the US, but it's also the largest producer of renewable energy as well.

When extreme weather conditions threaten to knock out the power supply, the state's nearly 5 Gigawatts of clean energy and storage can step in and “keep the lights and heat on”.

There's a new solar + storage facility being built in Ables Springs, TX, less than an hour's drive east of Intertek's Plano, TX laboratories. It's expected to generate enough clean energy to power more than 30,000 households in the Dallas area. It's the 17th such project developed by Enel North America in Texas.

As any Texan will kindly but sternly warn you, “Don't mess with Texas.”

Texas consumes more energy than any other state, and demand is growing. Already the US leader in solar and wind, it’s turning to battery storage to maintain the ERCOT grid’s reliability in the face of extreme weather and rising power needs.
