Having been a core member facilitating STEM learning in Hong Kong, I am so excited to see that young generations are going back to physical classroom these few months. For the sake of health and safety of young children, and also with an aim to promote AI and IoT learning, Intertek Hong Kong has arranged a virtual tour to Vocational Training Council (VTC). Established in 1982, VTC is the largest vocational and professional education and training provider in Hong Kong.

During the 2-hr tour, Dr. Johnny Kwong, John Lai and Rex Boo from VTC presented how STEM could be applied in different industries.  They showcased how a maze was formed and solved by using Artificial Intelligence (AI). The pupils were so excited to acquire some AI skills and finally playing a maze game without pressing the navigation keys.  To them and to us, it was totally a new mode of playing games.

With the demonstration of Bus Route App and Digital Aquarium, pupils learned how Internet of things (IoT) works and improve our daily lives.  This inspired them to observe, think and investigate in our livelihood.

Pupils participated actively and were very observant.  We were also very excited to join them virtually at real time. Under the New Normal, let’s continue contributing to our world. Together, let’s build back ever better!
