Smart Glasses Generate Captions for Deaf in Real Time

Assistive Technology helps many disabled people overcome varriers in society daily. These new smart glasses listen to the conversation and disaply it as captions for the wearer to read. This is a great step forward, however, we need to remember that technology is only part of the solution to removing barriers in society.

Assistive Technology has limitations, and it is important that we continue to make changes in society to make the world more inclusive. In addition, assistive technology is often expensive and not within reach of those that need it most.

To find out more about how to be more inclusive for people who are hard of hearing, check out We Support Deaf Awareness, a campaign to raise awareness set up by Simon Houghton during the pandemic, when masks made lip reading difficult.

Build Back Ever Better, Ever More Inclusive

‘We are so proud of the ability of this innovative technology to enrich the lives of people who are deaf and have hearing loss, so that they can maximize potential,’ said Dan Scarfe, XRAI Glass’s CEO.
