Students release balloon into stratosphere over Maltese Islands to analyse air quality

Stratos-1 is the name given to the first completely Maltese space adventure. University of Malta students from the Department of Space Studies have released a balloon into the stratosphere over the Maltese Islands in order to analyse air quality and the surrounding environment.

This interesting experiment, the first of its kind, resulted in a spatial balloon being released into the stratosphere over Malta about 30 km above ground level. The stratosphere is one of the levels in the atmosphere.

The balloon, has been released in order to take samples of the air above the Maltese Islands for eventual analysis.

The masterminds behind the experiment are a group of students from the University of Malta’s Department of Space Studies.
