As part of a shared commitment to Building Back Ever Better, Intertek teams across Ghana came together around a simple but powerful goal: to create meaningful, lasting improvements for learners at the Akropong School for the Blind.
Founded to foster independence and enhance quality of life for individuals with visual impairments, the school serves nearly 400 children from kindergarten through junior high. While it remains a place of hope and empowerment, the school continues to face challenges related to infrastructure, accessibility, and access to essential learning materials.
Working side by side, colleagues from different disciplines pooled their skills, time, and energy to support both learning and safety across the campus. Primary classrooms and the Administration block were renovated and repainted to create brighter, more welcoming spaces for teaching and collaboration. Critical walkways were also repaired, improving mobility, confidence, and accessibility for students who rely on safe, clearly defined paths to navigate their environment.
To strengthen classroom instruction, the team provided braille learning materials for primary school teachers along with educational supplies for students, helping address ongoing gaps in braille-adapted resources and supporting a more inclusive learning experience.
This effort was about more than physical improvements. It demonstrated what’s possible when people come together with a shared purpose, reinforcing teamwork, compassion, and a collective responsibility to uplift the communities around them.
Heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this initiative a reality within just five months, and special appreciation to Rita Appiah and Rejoice Sackey for their dedication and partnership with the school throughout the project.
